FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Cost, privacy, offline use and the rest.

Is everything really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use without limits, accounts or trials. Nothing is behind a paywall.

Do I need an account?

No. There’s no sign-up, no login and no email collection. Open a tool and use it.

What data do you collect?

The tools don’t collect anything — every calculation happens in your browser. The web server keeps basic request logs (time, page, referrer, country) for capacity planning and abuse prevention, like any web server. There are no analytics scripts, third-party trackers or advertising cookies.

To check for yourself, open your browser’s developer tools and watch the network tab.

Where is my data stored?

In your browser. Tools that remember your work — saved configs, theme, last-used settings — use your browser’s local storage, on your device. Clear your browser storage and it’s gone.

Nothing about your designs, IP addresses, hostnames or topologies leaves your machine.

Can I use the tools offline?

Once a tool has loaded it keeps working if your connection drops — the tools run in the browser and don’t need the server to do their job.

Which browsers are supported?

Current Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Firefox and Safari. Phones work, but most tools have detailed forms or diagrams that are easier on a larger screen.

Are these tools affiliated with VMware or Broadcom?

No. VirtualBytes is an independent project built by infrastructure practitioners from public documentation, KB articles and field experience. It isn’t endorsed by or supported by Broadcom or VMware.

For production sizing decisions, always cross-check against official Broadcom documentation.

Can I link to the tools from my own site or portal?

Yes — for personal or internal team use, link to the tools freely.
